The Mint Julep Recipe Is One Of The Coolest Cocktails Out There

I've been using this Perfect Mint Julep Recipe for years, I believe this is one of the greatest cocktails ever invented.

As a bartender this is the my favorite cocktail to mix, you use all the bartending elements, from muddling to stirring to shaking to straining. In a few minutes you will know how to use all these elements to make the best mint julep.

The mint julep's basic ingredient is Bourbon whiskey, any bourbon or Tennessee whiskey will do, to the bourbon we add bitters, mint, lime juice, sugar and club soda.

Ingredients for Perfect Mint Julep recipe:

3 Oz bourbon (Always prefer a premium bourbon or tennessee whisky, I prefer wild turkey or maker's mark)

1 Spoon white sugar

Hand full of Mint leaves

4 Drops of bitters (we always prefer angostura bitters)

Splash of club soda

Lime Cordial (We recommend Rose's Lime Juice)

8 Ice cubes or crushed ice

Method:

Bar tools used: Shaker, Muddler, Spoon, Strainer

Glass: Old fashioned, Rock

Step 1: Muddle the mint and sugar, muddle until you actually smell the mint.
Step 2: Add 3 Oz of Bourbon
Step 3: Add the Bitters
Step 4: Stir 10 times
Step 5: Add 8 ice cubes
Step 6: Shake it hard! 20 times at least
Step 7: Strain into the glass full of fresh new ice
Step 8: Top the drink with club soda
Step 9: Add 5 fresh new mint leaves on top and serve it, your Perfect Mint Julep is ready to drink!

You can also use:

Rye whiskey but that's only if you like your cocktails strong.and if you want 101 proof you can use Wild Turkey, that will make your head spin.

Cocktail-Guru Tip

If you have powdered sugar you can sprinkle it on top of the mint leaves you put as garnish. It's looks great!
